Mercedes already informed us, through a teaser image, today presented a concept of its first pick-up of series production, the Mercedes s Class X. However, the company “deceived us”, and that is that we have not seen a Mercedes X Class, but two. Yes, the German brand of the star has shown during the presentation, two units of your future pick up with two very different styles.
As already announced some days ago, a good portion of the units will be produced in Spain and its basis will be the same as that of the Nissan Navara and Renault Alaskan. The Mercedes s Class X will hit the market by the end of 2017, with a body close to the 5.3 m and only available with double cab. Its main difference from the rest is that, despite being a pick up, it doesn’t leave the technology and elegance of his models more common.
As we said, Mercedes has introduced two units for two different versions. One of the two variants, called for the moment “Stylish Explorer”, found focused on adventurous people performing breaks out of the asphalt, but you can also use this car daily; while the other, called “Powerful Adventurer,” is clearly more oriented to workers you need a off-road of high skills off the road and with a large load capacity. Simply observe quickly the gallery of images, we differentiate which is which.
Despite the fact that the model final could look like, and much, in their general lines to these two units concept that the brand has displayed, we must take into account that there will be exactly alike and that is difficult (though not impossible) to see a wheels, 22-inch as used in the “Stylish Explorer”. Surely the models of production will keep a large part of the front image with the large Mercedes star presiding over grills of large surface area. His back, which is very futuristic and minimalist with a lighting very eye-catching, it will change in their production model.
Where it gives you the feeling that more “can’t trust” these two concept is on the inside. In both cases we see a interior very typical of Mercedes, with a steering wheel and box of tools own brand, as well as the aerators, and, how not, the famous screen of the central console that seems to be handled from the joystick on the centre tunnel.
In the variant “Stylish Explorer” you can see a nivel of luxury never before seen in a car of this segment; while in the “Powerful Adventurer” appears a cabin that without losing elegance and typical details of Mercedes seems to be made with materials more rough to keep up better with the aches and pains of the use in the pick up. We even see what appears to be a fire extinguisher on the right side of the dashboard.
The Mercedes Class X will be capable of transporting more than 1,000 kilograms load in your box and a towing capacity up to 3.5 tons, and it is that the company has already announced that it will use engine V6 in this model; although there will also be a version with the 2.3 diesel four-cylinder that equips the Nissan Navara and a motor power of petrol with 160 hp approximately. On the other hand, the tuning of the suspension receives a rear axle multi-link, which will also allow a better comfort when the vehicle circulates without load in comparison with the use of leaf springs as a spring.
Mercedes seeks to differentiate itself from the rest of the pick ups on the market showing a vehicle rugged and great off-road capabilities, but also to the latest in terms of technology, security systems, driving aids and connectivity, while maintaining the style and the image inside of the rest of the products of the brand.
