Nicholas Fuchs was one of the big surprises of the Dakar 2017. The peruvian signed a great debut in the raid of the world’s toughest and managed to finish twelfth at the wheel of his Ford HRX, in what was the best premiere of a pilot for south american in the car class. For this reason, and after confirming his return to the Dakar, it was very strange that Fuchs did not say their sports program. Everything had its reason for being and although this season has competed in the Baja Aragon and the Baja Hungary, Nicolas Fuchs has announced that will participate in the Dakar 2018 as official pilot of Borgward.
Borgward is a historic German manufacturer who has returned to the forefront of the car scene from the investment of capital chinese. With a clear commercial strategy based on the SUV’s and 4×4’s, Borgward has chosen the Dakar to have a sports program that can enhance the brand image in South america, market in which it intends to land for all high. In fact, Peru and Argentina are two of the countries in which it intends to settle with greater force, hence, the presence of Nicolás Fuchs and Fernando Mussano in the computer is not a coincidence.
The runner-up in the class WRC2 World Rally in 2013 will have in his first Dakar as a pilot officer with a Borgward BX7 Dakar, a model derived from the Borgward BX7 with a recognizable design, but modified to withstand the demands of this raid. The Borgward Dakar Team, the crew and the BX7 Dakar will be presented officially on the 22nd of November during the conference organized by the ASO in Paris, France. Wevers Sports, the team that has collaborated with Nicolas Fuchs in the last few years, will support this project in a Dakar rally which starts in Lima, with what this entails for the peruvian pilot.
