Sébastien Ogier and M-Sport face the Rally of Poland with the purpose of defending the leadership in the standings of drivers and teams of the WRC. Once more, Ogier will open the track and have to suffer with the factor cleaning, always and when the rain does not state otherwise. However, in Poland, this aspect is determinant, which can be difficult without a doubt the tera the frenchman. Ott Tanak and Elfyn Evans, the latter with the tyres DMACK, are perfect men at the time of subtracting points to their rivals, while Teemu Suninen will make his debut at the wheel of the Ford Fiesta RS WRC 2017.
Sébastien Ogier has fond memories of Poland, where it has achieved two victories. Last year, he finished sixth: “The Rally of Poland is an event that all the riders are waiting. The rhythm section is incredible, and this year with the new World Rally Cars will still be better. last year was probably the worst event for me in terms of cleaning of the sections. Leading the championship is where we want to be, but if it is dry, it will be a disadvantage for us during the Friday and we will have to limit the loss of time. to Maintain our advantage in the championship is our top priority and we are willing to push to achieve it”.
Ott Tanak comes from winning in the Rally of Italy-Sardinia, taking the thorn of having lost his first victory in the WRC precisely in Poland: “Is one of my favorite events with stages fast and flowing, so that I really enjoy. I grew up on roads like these in Estonia. Is a rally of real pilots, there are incredible speeds, and be full of confidence. The notes have to be perfect, and any small hesitation will cost you time. A lot of people will watch us so well that we have done here in the past, but we don’t have the best starting position. despite this, the podium should be the minimum target“.
Elfyn Evans has the trump card of the tires DMACK, who last year worked very well in this rally: “I’m looking forward to compete in Poland. It is fair to say that Sardinia was not what we expected, but we are hopeful of getting a good job. The stages of the Rally of Poland are incredibly fast and confidence is everything. We have done a test in Estonia and has been a great positive momentum for the rally. We have a lot of miles in different conditions, so I think we’re ready. The Rally of Poland is a race full of adrenaline and a real key point in the calendar“.
Teemu Suninen will live a special weekend with his debut in the category queen in command of a fourth Ford Fiesta RS WRC 2017: “I’m going to take the next step in my career and it is a big step, my debut in a World Rally Car. The challenge for WRC2 has multiplied, but I can’t wait to start the Rally of Poland. Having a good preparation is important, because I do not expect a debut easy. We have completed two days of testing with M-Sport. The shakedown will give us our first experience in fast stages and then the plan will be to drive smooth to the end. The objective is to obtain the most experience possible“.
