Before getting to know the new generation of the Opel Astra, we already knew that there would be a variant of competition for the TCR International Series. It is a world touring car championship that has been created this year and that places below the WTCC. Until now had only been published a few sketches on this model and finally we get the official images of the Opel Astra TCR.
Those who purchase will be able to compete in both races of short-distance and long-distance, such as the 24 hours of Nurburgring. For this purpose, it uses an engine four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo that meets the regulatory TCR and reaches a power of 330 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. Leads to a sequential shift six-speed with cams on the steering wheel and the traction is front.
For this variant of competition is taken as a base for the new Astra five-door. The model series had already lost enough weight with respect to the previous generation, but this goes more in the Astra TCR alone weighs 1,200 kg. Account with a chassis that is fully adjustable and also with the latest technology in cushioning. The elements of the aerodynamic are identical to other vehicles TCR and have been removed electronic aids such as ABS and ESP.
The brakes have also been adapted to perform the circuits, and are now equipped with a few discs 378 mm and six-piston calipers on the front axle and disks, 265 mm with calipers of two pistons in the rear. In addition to passing the new rules by FIA, which will enter into force in the year 2017, including a fuel tank of 100 litres capacity.
This Opel Astra TCR has been developed in conjunction with Kissling Motorsport. Those teams interested in acquiring this vehicle will have to fork out an amount of 95.000 euros, VAT not included. It is expected that the first units are delivered from February 2016.
