After a week, usually helpful, the past two days have been somewhat more problematic than expected for Oriol Servià. Before the power increase Friday, the Dallara of the Spanish driver did not seem to respond to changes as effectively and, although he managed to stay in the top half of the table with rebufos, his speed alone has awakened some concerns in the bosom of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.
In the best of his 40 laps, Servià got a respectable average of 230.887 miles per hour that he earned the 14th final position, but their simulations alone were shorter, in particular as to the consistency of the times referred to, around the 228 and the 229 miles per hour before losing effectiveness in the two final turns. All in all, his best lap with rebufos was the sixteenth best of the grill.
The province explained that the setup of the car was still not in the ideal in the balance sheet is concerned with the increase of speed, and that the break for rain did not help too: “With the momentum of classification of Honda, is note that (the car) is much faster. You come to the curve 1 much faster, so you need to adjust a little bit of everything in the setup. Could not roll a lot with the rain; we are well, but we are not so quick as we would like right now. You do not need too much when you have so little aerodynamic. If you don’t have a perfect balance, you lose speed here and there, and you are slower without knowing why”.
all in all, Servià is confident that the team will find the appropriate settings throughout the weekend: “We have Saturday and Sunday also useful to tune. I’m happy with the speed I have, because I didn’t have even a perfect balance, and I know that, when we have it, the speed will come. I know that we still have a little work to be done, but we still have a couple of days, so I hope that tomorrow, or Sunday, we have it controlled”.
