José María ‘Pechito’ López is one of the benchmarks of the motorsport current. The argentinian driver has spearheaded the project of Citroën Racing in the WTCC and has reached the title in the last two years on board the Citroën C-Elysée. The goal for 2016 is to reach the third crown in a row, but whatever the final outcome of the season, the French firm will leave the World Touring car. Although there are claims by Citroën to keep their vehicles in charge of a private computer, what is true is that this movement could result in a change of scenery for ‘Pechito’ López.
The latest rumors actually suggest that the argentine will test a LMP1 in the early months of 2016, although time has not been revealed which manufacturer could provide the opportunity to test your prototype two-time champion of the WTCC. In any case, ‘Pechito’ Lopez is still pilot the Vehicle, and the argentine would be happy to able to get into the DS3 WRC, though not seen competing in a World Rally Car: “I would like to stay in the team (Citroën), but I know that rallies are not my thing. It would be almost a shame to have to leave this amazing team”.
In this line, ‘Pechito’ Lopez has been recognized in ‘Autosport’ that feel certain predilection for the World of Resistance, but did not rule out any category: “I’ve Always said that I try to meet a real possibility to compete in Le Mans. It would be too big for me to do a race like this, so maybe you can do some test and maybe in 2017 find a seat on a prototype”. The argentine leaves everything in the air, but what is clear is that: “Desire to stay in Europe, I want to continue to grow as a rider and also as a person”.
