The trajectory of Sergio Perez in the Formula 1 has gone through several ups and downs, especially after his failed step for McLaren in 2013. The mexican had the misfortune of landing in Woking in the year in which the british team began a way of the cross, which still has not managed to get out, and his performance, inferior to that of Jenson Button, was a disappointment after two good seasons at Sauber.
Perez took to regain trust, and was widely beaten by Nico Hülkenberg in 2014, but in the last two years has exceeded clearly the German, making 20 points in 2015 and 29 in 2016. In this last year, has not only signed his best season ever (seventh), whether or not that has been the mainstay of the best year of Force India.
Way to start his fourth season with the team based at Silverstone, this time with the pop-up Esteban Ocon companion, Perez has revealed in an interview in Motorsport that feels somewhat discouraged, not having received all the praise that its results deserve: “It’s complicated, and sometimes frustrating. give all and you have excellent results, but many times you do not get the recognition you deserve. It has been amazing to conseguir the results that I’ve achieved this year, and despite this there are people who question my potential”.
in spite of this, Perez is satisfied with the performance that it has exhibited this season, emphasizing the fact that you have added points in the last ten races of the championship, and he praised the resilience of the Force India after the complicated start to the season, as well as the discouraging debut of the aerodynamic package that eventually allowed them to beat the competition.
“I Think that has been without doubt my best season, by results and consistency throughout the year. It is not easy to score points in 10 consecutive races. Have incidents in the positions in which we left it is usually very easy. At first, I thought that the season could be a nightmare, we were very far away. I remember that the aero package was a disaster when introduced in Barcelona: Williams was eight-tenths faster, and Toro Rosso half a second. It was not easy, but little by little we improve to be the fourth best team”.
The ambition of Perez going to the torque of a Force India that wants to increase even more the level to fight with the big fish despite economic problems of the last few years. Despite having ruled out recently the option of driving for Mercedes, the mexican considers that, on the contrary that, in 2013, has what it takes to succeed in a great team: “When I came to McLaren, had not the experience that I have today. I Am without a doubt the best time to be on a great team. I hope that the opportunity will come soon, I feel very prepared“.
