This year Pirelli is facing the challenge of delivering new tyres to Formula 1. But this is not simply make it 25% wider, but that are able to degrade less and better resist overheating.
in Addition, the new Pirelli will have to withstand the significant increase of downforce that the new cars are going to have and, to do this, the Italian brand asked the teams to provide forecasts for the start and the end of the season in this regard.
on this Basis, Mario Isola, Director of competition for Pirelli, it predicts a beginning of the year very competitive, which subsequently will be changing as a consequence of the different rhythms of evolution of the teams in function of their available resources. “If we look at the simulations to the beginning of the season, the values collected by the teams are quite similar between them. If you see the end of the season, taking into account the pace of development, the gap widens”, said in a statement to Autosport.
Paul Hembery, for his part, acknowledged that Pirelli expects that “the top ten is very busy”, something that surely all the fans of Formula 1 will see with very good eyes. The good performance of the three big teams and formations such as Force India, will join others such as Williams, McLaren, Toro Rosso or Renault, which aim to give a step forward in 2017, taking advantage of the new rules.
