In the International Symposium of the Engine of Vienna the Volkswagen Group has introduced a new engine, in addition to the 1.5 TSI in versions 130 and 150 HP that we already knew. It is a new engine V8 biturbo whose displacement is unknown, although it could be 4.0 liters, and that will be released in brand models Porsche, as the Panamera Turbo, although later it will expand to most high-end models within the Volkswagen Group.
This engine is related with the 3.0 V6 TFSI that used other models of the VAG Group, like the Audi S4 or the Porsche Panamera on your version of access. The new V8 biturbo engine will deliver a power of 550 horsepower and 770 Nm of torque in a wide range that goes from 1.960 to 4,500 revs. The current engine V8 turbocharged 4.8-liter that uses Porsche is condemned to extinction.
Porsche Panamera Turbo S
This new engine is located at a power level intermediate if we compare it with the current V8 4.8 in the Panamera Turbo (520 HP) and Panamera Turbo S (570 HP), so then we could expect a variant that is even more powerful for the new Panamera Turbo S. This engine is exclusive to models of engine are arranged longitudinally and may be associated with automatic gearboxes of eight relateds, whether torque converter or dual-clutch.
in Addition to the improvement in performance provided by the V8 biturbo engine, there will also be a significant improvement in fuel consumption and emissions. This new engine makes use of technologies which are increasingly common even in models of high performance, as the Stop & Start and the disconnection of selective cylinders, which in this case runs between 950 and 3500 revolutions by disconnecting four of the eight cylinders, and reducing the consumption in this mode of operation by up to 30%.
