There is No time for rest. After competing the order
last week in Slovakia Ring, the WTCC returns to action at the Hungaroring. Just
it’s been five days since the triumphs of Tiago Monteiro and ‘Pechito’ López in
Slovakia, but the World of Cars comes with some changes to Hungary. In
first, Tiago Monteiro is the new leader of the category,
becoming the first Portuguese rider to lead a World dependent
of the FIA. In addition, after the first two appointments in the calendar are reviewed
ballasts of compensation, something that will affect the performance seen until now.
despite being a track that close and not too fast, the layout of the Hungaroring is one of the most appreciated by the pilots. With 4.381 metres of length, the path Hungarian hides in its interior a total of 14 angles. It has the same configuration as that used in the F1 World, which involves a combination of strong braking with stretches of curves linked to medium speed. Present in the championship since 2011, one of the pilots that more success has been achieved in this track has been Yvan Muller, although the local hero is Norbert Michelisz.
After his good role in Slovakia Ring, Tiago Monteiro sum 77 points and is the leader of the WTCC, although you only have a point advantage on ‘Pechito’ López. A minimum difference for two pilots that will have to take care of a lot of the classification, since the path Hungarian is not exactly the easiest to overtake. In any case, the main threat to both play at home. Norbert Michelisz arrives to Hungary in third position in the championship after adding 52 points in the first two quotes in the championship, accumulating two podiums at Paul Ricard.
Yvan Muller is without a doubt
the pilot who arrives in Hungary with the greatest needs. The pilot
French added a 0 at Paul Ricard, and also played a discreet role in
Slovakia Ring, which has placed input in 40 points of ‘Pechito’
Lopez, both being in principle the main title contenders. And
we say in principle because the big surprise so far has been the
performance of the Honda Civic WTCC, a model that has won two of the four
races held to date. Even so, the performance will change
completely in Hungary with the new pesos of compensation.
The Citroën C-Elysée will be 80 kilos
ballast, the maximum weight that can drag a vehicle of the category.
However, the deficit in respect of the rivals decreases as
Honda Civic WTCC receive 70 kilograms of extra weight. A situation that can
lead Lada Sport will be a big threat this weekend. The
performance of the Lada Vesta is not far from the two models already
mentioned, and with 50 pounds of ballast may be still more
protagonists in Hungary, after curdle a weekend of lights and
shadows in Slovakia. The Volvo V60 and the Chevrolet Cruze are going without
no extra pound.
