In less than a month the city will live one of the competitions most spectacular in the world of motorsports, the Barcelona RX 2017. This test scoring Championship of the FIA World Rallycross will land in our country for the third consecutive year. The event will take place the first weekend of the next month, that is to say, the days 1 and 2 April.
Will be the the first round of the World and will be raced in Montmeló, combining asphalt surfaces other than earth on a path of about a kilometer. As usual, the show is assured thanks to the compact vehicles of competition, with more than 600 HP in many cases, and the expertise of their pilots of reputation.
And as we talk about pilots, we find ourselves with nothing less than eighteen people, of nine different nationalities, challenging the appointment of the city condal. Some of them will be the very same Ken Block, Sébastien Loeb, Petter Solberg or Mattias Ekström; a grill with a lot of experience and many titles won. On the other hand, in this category there will be six official teams and six runners individual.
As always, the sideways slipping, defying the laws of physics, the sound of the engines, the backfiring of the exhaust, the jumps, overtaking and physical contact between the vehicles are fully insured. This is magic of the FIA World Rallycross Championship.
Sponsored by Tires Cooper; Rally Cross Barcelona 2017 will start at 9 of Saturday morning, 1 April, ending at 18:00 this first day. The second day repeat schedule on Sunday, day 2, from 9:00 until 18:00. A weekend with 18 hours at full capacity.
The two years prior to the Spanish appointment had also been held in Montmeló but, however, the show took place in the month of September. Now, the organizers have decided that Barcelona will be the inaugural event of this championship. After this first appointment, the competition will travel to 11 other locations as are Monte Alegre, Hockenheim, Mettet, Lydden Hill, Hell, Höljes, Trois Rivières, Lohéac, Bikernieki, Estering and Killarney is vying for the last appointment (in south Africa) on 11 and 12 November.
