last weekend I brought a drag race very curious, as it faced the BMW i8 and the BMW M4. Today we have another ‘drag race’ more than curious could qualify as the beast. Three rivals, and all exceed two tons in weight. We talk about three of the SUV more performance that we can find today. Are Range Rover SVR, Jeep Cherokee SRT and Porsche Cayenne Turbo S.
The three have one point in common: they use mechanical V8 with all-wheel drive. The Range Rover Sport SVR features a supercharged V8 5.0-liter that develops 550 HP and 680 Nm of torque. The Porsche Cayenne Turbo S is no slouch, its V8 biturbo 4.8-liter reaches 570 HP and 800 Nm of torque. The Jeep Cherokee SRT, which we had the chance to test, is the least powerful V8 HEMI 6.4-liter that has 468 HP and 624 Nm.
theory tells us that the Cherokee SRT will be at a disadvantage, since it is the least powerful and the only one that does not benefit from the turbolimentación. It is also the exemplary heavier as it reaches the 2.418 kg. The Range Rover Sport SVR will follow with 2.333 kg and the lighter in this case is the Cayenne Turbo S with 2.310 kg. But that is the theory, to see how it went in practice, we leave you a video with the race.
As can be seen the data is not lying and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S get beat without much effort. We have not commented before, but this model gets a brutal acceleration 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, while the Sport SVR takes 4,7 seconds and the Cherokee SRT-4.9 seconds. In this way complete the quarter mile at 12.3 seconds, half a second above the Range and almost a second ahead of the Jeep
