The formation of the anglo-swiss Rebellion Racing has confirmed to David Heinemeir Hansson and Julien Canal as its last two riders ahead of the season 2017 WEC. Even though the latest rumors pointed in another line, finally the team has opted for these two winners of the GTE-Am, every time that they meet the requirements of pilots Silver and Bronze that are needed for the structure. In what marks the return of Heinemeir Hansson and Channel to the World of Strength, each one of them will be aligned in one of the two Oreca 07 Gibson composed the team in its descent to LMP2.
David Heinemeir Hansson, the champion of the category GTE-Am with Aston Martin in the season 2014, will join forces in the Oreca 07 #13 with Mathias Beche and Nelson Piquet Jr. in his return to the LMP2 after competing with Abu Dhabi-Proton Racing in 2016. For its part, Julien Channel is set to compete in the Oreca 07 #31 next to Bruno Senna and Nico Prost in what marks his return to the WEC after the title that joined in 2012 in the GTE-Am Larbre Competition and of dispute during 2016, the European Le Mans Series with the team Greaves Motorsport.
With the addition of David Heinemeir Hansson and Julien Canal at the program of Rebellion in the WEC and a brilliant roster of pilots for the 24 Hours of Daytona, first race of the IMSA Weather SportsCar Championship, all the ingredients are ready in the formation of the anglo-swiss, such, and as acknowledged by Bart Hayden, Team Manager: “we Hope to have a great season in the World Championship of Endurance in 2017 and also a great performance in Le Mans. We are fortunate to benefit from a talented group of experienced riders this year. I am convinced that everyone will do a great job and will compete well together”.
