Rebellion Racing returns to Dunlop LMP1

Dunlop returns to LMP1. The signature of tyres with more
victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans will return to fit a prototype of the
category queen of the World of Resistance after reaching an agreement with
Rebellion Racing. The swiss team will mount so the Dunlop tyres in the two
Rebellion R-One LMP1-L
that will be competing in the WEC in 2016. With identical
payroll of pilots and the ‘signing’ of Dunlop, the structure is not only expected to
get his fifth consecutive title in the category private teams
but to be one step closer to the prototypes from the factory.

The last time Dunlop had a presence in LMP1 was in 2012 when you mounted your tires on the Pescarolo 01 OAK Racing. Since then, the class queen of the World of Resistance and consequently of the 24 Hours of Le Mans have been a category brand in tires is concerned, with a complete monopoly of Michelin. Although this trend will not change between the prototypes of Audi, Porsche and Toyota, the team Rebellion Racing has taken the step of changing to Dunlop, motivated in large measure by the private test held in Bahrain at the end of last season.

despite landing in LMP1, Dunlop did not neglect his business in LMP2 and GTE-Am, the two categories in which he exercises his own monopoly. Dunlop has been the tire chosen by the winners of the category LMP2 in three of the last four editions of the World of Resistance. Even so, the agreement with Rebellion Racing will become a cornerstone of the bet Dunlop in the WEC and Xavier Fraipont, Director-General of Motorsport Dunlop, has already confirmed that they will offer specialized technical support. Is expected to a program test set of Rebellion and Dunlop before the start of the season.
