Renault bursts into the CES 2017 with new projects for new forms of mobility

Renault and its partners have unveiled numerous mobility solutions at CES 2017.

These days the Renault Group and its technology partners strategic (OSVehicle, ARM, Pilot, and Sensory), they are showing at CES 2017 new projects illustrate some new ways of imagining how will be the mobility of the future. An approach completely open in terms of innovation to transform the industry of the automotive sector through changes to both hardware and software. New items that open up new opportunities for a market that is in constant change.

Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Renault-Nissan, stands out in the implementation of these technological innovations, the different solutions and proposals thanks to the synergies of the engineering and technology within the alliance existing between the two giant automobile (Renault and Nissan). For Ghosn, these projects allow for the possibility of working in different ways for the integration of new technologies and explore new fields for electric mobility, car-connected and, ultimately, the transport of the future.

One of the main changes to the Renault Group shows at the CES 2017 is the so-called POM, an electric vehicle is compact and lightweight and devoid of body parts (taking as base the Renault Twizy) and endowed with a new platform car “open source” (open source code). Is intended for startups, independent laboratories as well as private clients and researchers that allows third parties to copy and modify the current software to create an electric vehicle fully customizable to each driver.

Thanks to the partnership between Renault and OS Vehicle, this vehicle code open will offer an easy access to the community. For its part, the collaboration of the French manufacturer with ARM, a provider of design technologies of processors exploited by more than 80% of today’s mobile devices, allows the implementation of new features, especially in the interoperability with connected devices based on ARM. This ecosystem allows you to take systems and technologies, driving assistance, info-board entertainment and even driving autonomous.

Renault and Pilot shown in this edition of the CES of the possibilities that offers the market of the spare part beyond the sphere of the automobile traditional. To do this, they have combined the technology Light Press Cable Pilot with the experience of Renault in the electric mobility. Have introduced the first recharging cable electroluminescent for electric vehicles. The cable indicates the current charge level to brighten and flashing in accordance with the flow of electricity.

And last, but not least, the fruit of cooperation between Renault and Sensory, have developed a new generation of smart clothing, to offer a new experience in auto racing. Both companies have introduced a few socks sensory that optimize the movement of the feet of the racing drivers. The information collected by these socks is transmitted to an application to further evaluate the performance in circuit.
