Renault continues to deny their particular 'dieselgate', but will review 15,000 units of the Capture and Espace

In these last days as well and we have been reporting, the French authorities have broken into the headquarters in paris of Renault with the aim of collecting information on what is considered to be a new dieselgate, but in this case, French. Have been 48 hours of press statements, denials and a seizure internal very important. Is more, since it was known that the French authorities were investigating to Renault, the shares on the stock exchange of the signature gala collapsed.

however, and as we say, at all times has been denied the higher in Renault and ensures that there is no deceit as has happened at Volkswagen when tweaking the levels of emissions when they conducted the test on test benches. Despite this, even today, continues with the focus placed on Renault and the latest movements that is doing the French brand do nothing more than add fuel to the fire.

As we say, Renault will review 15,000 units of the Renault Capture (manufactured exclusively in Spain) and the Espace. At the moment there are not many details on the models and versions that must pass by the workshops for this “review”, although it stands out that could be the models equipped with engine dCi 1.5-liter with 110 horsepower.

Then, if Renault denies the most, What makes reviewing more than 15,000 cars?

Trying to clarify all this mess generated by the holders of the first hours, we find ourselves with two “problems” that Renault wants to resolve.

In the first place we find that both the Capture and Espace that were tested at the laboratory bench as in circulation had been approved properly but it was discovered that, in circulation, the level of NOx emissions was excessive.

And in the second place, we encounter a problem of cycle of approval, which does NOT reflect the actual conditions of use of these cars.

None of the Renault tested had a “defeat device”

As we say, all the Renault that will be reviewed have been properly approved and none of them had what we might describe as “defeat device” that vary the combustion detect that the car is being subjected to a cycle of approval (or emissions testing).

Both the Renault Capture as the Renautl Espace make use of systems anti-pollution NOx-trap, a system quite a bit more affordable and less costly to Renault than other options in the market. Although few manufacturers use these systems as anti-pollution in their diesel engines, Renault opted for them.

The main problem with this system is that it is not as efficient as the SCR when the car is in movement. Therefore and in summary, cars have emission levels far higher than that approved. The French Government has been the one that has been demanded of Renault-Nissan to perform the review of the cars mentioned above to verify that the systems anti-pollution work correctly.

Renault plans to upgrade (optionally) more than half a million cars.

In last place and to finish with the leaks of the last few hours, it has been known that Renault is already finalizing the details of a “program update” that will be optional for the next summer. In particular, Renault plans to offer 700,000 owners the option to update systems anti-pollution of their cars. For the moment, there are no details on this aspect of models and system “update” that will be used.
