Mazda announced days ago that would have two new prototypes in the SEMA Show Las Vegas. We knew that they would be based in one of the models most mythical of the brand, as is the Mazda MX-5, you just start your new journey with the latest generation. Now, the japanese have unveiled the first images and data of the Mazda MX-5 Spyder and Speedster. The common denominator of both these prototypes is to maintain the sporty driving and reduce even more the weight of the already lightweight Mazda MX-5.
One of the few things they have in common these two concept cars, is that they both use the same engine Skyactiv-G four-cylinder engine, 2.0 liters and 160 horses of power. On one side is a more conventional Mazda MX-5 Spyder, with an elegant combination of body-silver with hood lightened brown. This prototype has a body kit specific is made of carbon fiber to keep the weight off, and tires sport Yokohama ADVAN Racing RS II, but not the waiver of a a well-finished interior in leather. The team of brakes has also been improved on the front axle with Brembo six-piston. Account also with an adjustable suspension and its weight is 1.043 pounds.
Much more radical is the Mazda MX-5 Speedster. Here, we have searched the maximum lightness, with elements such as the doors and seats made of carbon fiber, thereby achieving a weight of 943 kilograms, a diet which is considerable, to which also contributes the absence of the windscreen and the hood. It also has a number of technical improvements, such as tires for racing or the suspension K&W adjustable which lowers the body 30mm with respect to the series model. Here the computer brake is also a Brembo, with four-piston calipers. Due to its lightness, it is not necessary braking system is so powerful.
