Ricciardo: “in the afternoon we had a problem with the exhaust”

Daniel Ricciardo has completed a total of 70 laps in the
third day of test. The australian rider, who returned to the cockpit of the Red Bull RB13, is satisfied with the work done despite the
problems in the exhaust that has forced the team to miss out on a good piece of
the evening session. All in all, the 48 laps completed during the morning and
the final time of 1:21.153 with soft tyre -that has earned him to be
the third – is a good balance for Ricciardo, especially because has been focused
in carrying out various aero tests
throughout the day.

At the end of the day, Daniel Ricciardo explained:
“it Is the second day in the car for me and we have taken a good number of
turns, something that is positive. For the moment we have not focused on the
performance. I’ve been learning about the car and the tires. Today I started
to feel the downforce, especially in turns 3 and 9, which are now
pretty impressive. I think that when we begin to do 60 laps in
career and in conditions of heat, the pilots are going to reach some limits

In relation to the technical problems in the RB13, the australian acknowledged: in the afternoon we had a problem with the
. We had to stop and check everything, so that we lost a
little bit of time. Even so, before, we had a very good batch of almost 20 laps,
something that was important to understand the tyres. As we have said before,
we are not too much involved in search performance. I hope that the
next week can push a little more and see what we have. For the moment only
I have sought to have some laps consistent and also work in the
reliability, despite our little problem”.

In this aspect, Ricciardo is confident in the press conference offered at the Circuit de catalunya at the conclusion of the day: The time per lap are still not very representative, but I think we can expect that Mercedes and Ferrari are the front. Despite this, I think that also we can be very close to them. We are very happy with the engine. We know that there’s a bit more to come. I Think that by the end of next week all over the world show you what he has. I trust that we can be a little closer than we were last year, and from there to veremos”.

In addition, Ricciardo was not showing particularly concerned
by the great performance that they have offered to Mercedes and Ferrari in terms of
mileage, very superior to the accumulated by the RB13: “This has been a little
so from 2014. It is obvious that we have to work at it, but we do not expect
neither do 150 laps as Mercedes
. I suppose they expect to do so,
because they have a very good basis and we still we are experienced with
many things
. It would be good to do one more round, but I think that I have learned
much hoy”.

Finally, Ricciardo added to finish his speech:
“I Think that in spite of doing only 20 laps more than I did the first
day, I think that today was a more useful and productive for us. If Verstappen
you can do 80 or 100 laps tomorrow, it can be said that will be a test quite
good for us here”.
