Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton met with the expectations of a first free practice sessions marked by calm. The leaders of the championship were not only the fastest, but also the most laps gave, with more than 35 turns each, which gives a good sample of what they are capable of doing for the rest of the weekend.

Kimi Räikkönen beat a Sebastian Vettel without too much of a rhythm in this test, although the great news above was that the Red Bull were missing: Max Verstappen it was not the 8th best time and Daniel Ricciardo on the 10th.

For McLaren was a session complicated. Jenson Button was eleventh, with 23 laps, and reasonably comfortable, but Fernando Alonso not started the weekend with a good walk. It was the least shot of the 22 riders (14 laps in total, only 11 timed), and finished minutes before the banderazo to boxes entering in the pit lane, with the fourth gear locked in his McLaren.

Carlos Sainz was 16, even though it was testing different specifications aerodynamic and did not attempt to rate a return. Despite this, he was able to win by a tenth to his teammate Daniil Kvyat.
