Sainz is ninth on the grid after “one of my best laps in F1”

For the fourth time this season, Carlos Sainz has gained access to the Q3 in a classification. The pilot madrille├▒o signed his best lap of the day, a 1:18.311, in Q2, a turn above what was expected which enabled him to overtake the Renault of Jolyon Palmer, his teammate Daniil Kvyat, who will be 13 and the Force India. In the final session, Sainz trusted everything to a single attempt that was not entirely clean, but its tenth position becomes ninth with the penalty of five posts on Nico H├╝lkenberg for changing the gearbox.

The man Toro Rosso, following the classification defined his time in Q2 as “one of my best laps in Formula 1”, and stressed the importance of what has been achieved. “it Was one of the qualis, the most difficult of the year, where more tight everything was, with the Renault and the McLaren going very fast all the weekend. I have ‘pulled’ to one of them and we have delayed the Force India. I knew that if we get put in the top 10, we’d win an extra-position. Tomorrow, come out for the clean helps a little bit, and being ninth, you’re already in the points”.

Sainz argued that its 1:18.912 in the final session due to an erratic behavior of the tires that, in his words, had been expressed throughout the day intermittently: “it Has been a very difficult day to understand the tyres, not finished work on the first lap, sometimes worked and sometimes didn’t, and that you took a little bit of confidence, as happened to me in Q3. In the race we don’t know, because the ‘long run’ was really stopped by the red flags, so we don’t know what to expect”.

Out by clean helps a little bit and, being the ninth, you’re already in the points.

face tomorrow’s race, the Spanish rider hopes to be able to take advantage of its good position to extend its full of races finished in the points: “once you’re inside the top 10 and with the pace that we have, the truth is that we are not to improvise or to much more. There is give thanks for where we are today. Tomorrow will try to do a clean run”.
