Sales 2017, Colombia: The Renault Sandero at its best

Sales in Colombia in 2017 accumulated a total of 238.238 units, a fall just over 6% from 2016. Despite the fact that official figures show the Chevrolet Spark as the model most sold in 2017, the most chosen by the public has been the Renault Sandero, in its three different versions.

according to industry analysts, the accumulated decline during the last three years will come to an end in 2018, mainly thanks to new trade agreements sealed during the last few months, which include a new trade agreement with Mercosur, in addition to agreements with Europe, the united States and Korea.

With respect to the manufacturers, during the year just concluded has been Chevrolet who has managed to master, although Renault we follow very closely and it would not be strange to see the brand gala leading the market in 2018. It highlights the growth of Nissan in the third place of the ranking, greatly improving their participation, achieving displacing Kia up to the fourth position.

In terms of the brands that closed 2017 with positive numbers, we find Peugeot (+176,5%), Citroën (+142,2%), Hyundai (+43.8 per Cent), Nissan (+15.5%) and Subaru (+13,3%). On the contrary, among the manufacturers who have not enjoyed a good 2017 and have closed in negative we find Chery (-54,6%), Ssangyong (-51,7%), Kia (-24,7%), Chevrolet (-14,7%) and Renault (-8,0%).

With respect to the ranking of models, the Chevorolet Spark has been the most chosen as 14.192 sales, followed by the Chevrolet Sail with a total of 12.483 units and the Mazda 3 with 7.160 units.

Although here it is worth to clarify that because of the way that Walk have classified the models of Renault, the Sandero is the one that should occupy the first position, since it accumulates more than 14,000 units by adding three different versions: Sandero, Stepway and Sandero Expression.

Among the SUV’s, the most successful has been the Chevrolet Tracker, followed by Mazda CX-5 and Ford Escape.

With respect to premium brands, in 2017 BMW has been the one that took up the leadership with a total of 2.809 units delivered to new owners, achieving imposed on Mercedes 2.769 vehicles and Audi 1.189 units.

In the field of electric and hybrid cars the leader during 2017 has been BMW with 82 units, followed by Renault with 57 vehicles, BYD, Kia, and Mitsubishi.
