Force India is a team that does not make noise, but it is effective. So it reached the fifth position in the Constructors ‘ World last year and has started the pre-season in Barcelona. After the first day in which Alfonso Celis was at the controls of the car computer, today has been the turn of his debut on the VJM09 Sergio Perez. The mexican has completed 101 laps of the layout of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and has managed the third best time of the day (1:23.650) with the soft tyre, being the only rider who achieved his best time with this compound.
After 470 km, Sergio Perez showed his feelings to the press: “I’m pretty happy with my first day in the VJM09. Everything has gone according to plan and we have done a lot of laps. The line basic car shows good potential and I already feel pretty comfortable with the car”. Even so, the mexican knows that work remains to be done: “there are Still a lot of things for us to explore in the aerodynamics and the mechanical part, but we’ve managed to complete almost all the planned programme and in the we’re going in the right direction“.
From the wall of the pit, Tom McCullough in his role of Chief Engineer of Race, has a similar opinion to that of his rider after the second day of tests: “it Has been another good day of work in Barcelona with Perez completing 101 laps. A large part of the day have been tests with constant speed and aerodynamics. The engineers have already tested different settings, while we continue to add more kilometres to the car. Perez ran with the medium tyres, soft and superblandos during the day, which gives us plenty of data for evaluation and comparison”.
