Taking as its point of departure a Skoda Spaceback, 26 apprentices of the Czech brand have created a prototype coupé called Skoda Athero. This is already the third prototype of the Skoda Academy that demonstrates the technical knowledge and the manual skills of young apprentices of Skoda.
The changes are more noticeable in the Skoda Athero find them after the B-pillar, where with respect to the Skoda Spaceback, the line of roof falls significantly to rear. The B-pillar has been delayed to place a door longer allowing access to the rear seats at the same time that offers a better proportion aesthetic to the body. The rear area, in addition, account with the ceiling glazed. The Skoda Athero looks like a body of black colour with details in red Cumshot (sic) on the bumpers, mirrors, sideskirts and spoiler. There is also a specific for the occasion, the hood with air intakes illuminated.
The students have also modified the lighting of the rear headlights and the headlights-main, with a slight illumination in red color. Not lack abundant ambient-lighting-LED – color red, both in the interior and on the exterior of the Skoda Athero. The tails and the exhaust diffuser, and the rear is inherited directly from the Skoda Octavia RS.
inside the upholstery, specific, and details of red color on the seats, doors and steering wheel create an atmosphere more in youth and sports in line with the exterior of the Skoda Athero. The trunk retains a large volume of cargo, virtually unchanged with respect to the Skoda Spaceback and with a good access through a mouth load range, though the load capacity drops to be installed in the trunk a sound team of 1,800 w that is in charge of the feeding of the 14 speakers of the vehicle.
Mechanically there are no changes and Skoda Athero uses a motor 1.4 TSI petrol with 125 horses of power associated with the gearbox DSG dual-clutch seven-speed, although the engine bay some visible components of the mechanics have been tailored with an eye-catching red color.
The apprentices of Skoda, 22 men and 4 women, began working in the Skoda Athero by the end of 2015, with the help of skilled workers of the departments of development, design and production. Have been needed more than a total of 1,700 hours of work to convert the compact five-doors in a coupe.
