Subaru has a clear goal, to get the fastest lap on Nürburgring (Nordschleife). The guys at Gunma want to be done with the record for a car of four doors, currently in the hands of the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Verde with a time of 7 minutes and 32 seconds. Even though the car they are going to use, it is not for nothing a street car, which might bring controversy if you finally make it with that record.
The car that will be used by the japanese is based on a Subaru WRX STi, increased by up to 500 horsepower, in fact, not use the production name that I have mentioned above, but your name shall be Subaru WRX STi Type RA NBR Special.
The interior of this Type RA NBR is fully exposed, as it has done away with the materials to mount the WRX STi series, and in addition it has been equipped with a large rear diffuser needed to have more downforce in the more than 150 curves of Nordschleife, and a large spoiler that will serve the same purpose.
The car was revealed by the japanese brand the 1 of June thanks to a video that shows how they prepared and got to point this Subaru so special at the legendary Silverstone track. In him also we can see how we took it and tested the car on Nordschleife with weather conditions nothing suitable to make a record at the Green Hell.
Thanks to this video we can see that the Type RA NBR would be DRS, which lowers the drag in the straights to make it even faster, and as the pilot struggled against the wet floor of the track in germany. Without a doubt, Subaru knows how to prepare their WRX STi, as they have shown on numerous occasions in the Isle of Man and in the WRC, but it is clear that if they get the record, it’s not going to be free of controversy.
