The first day of post-GP at Silverstone has been
marked by the rain, but also by the good performance of the Spanish riders. Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso have shared track
commanders of their respective single-seaters in a day of a lot of work for both of you. To
despite the rain that has marked the test in the afternoon session, both of which have
finished as two of the pilots more active. While Carlos Sainz has
finished with the sixth best time after completing 91 laps, Fernando Alonso
has closed the day at the front (1:31.290) with 105 laps to his back.
Carlos Sainz completed a large part of the planned work
during the morning session, although this did not prevent the pilot of the Toro Rosso
it was also one of the pilots more active with the wet asphalt. In this
aspect, Sainz has placed special emphasis on the work of long runs with
pneumatic means, in addition to trying out some small new parts for the level wind.
In this way, and taking advantage of the changing conditions of the track, Toro
Rosso has been evaluating different configurations for the car. Although it has had a little out of track without consequences, all of the
work has been carried out with success.
Following the completion of her single day of the tests, since
Sette Camara will take over the controls STR11, Carlos Sainz explained:
“I Think that was a test, and production. We did a lot of laps and we have
completed the greater part of the intended plan, especially in the morning already
we had rain forecast. After many bouts with the tire
we have been able to collect a lot of data and I think that we can be
happy with our work, because it has been very useful. It’s a shame the arrival
of the rain, but did not affect us much because you’ve already done all the work with track
Better would have been things if it is to Fernando Alonso, all
after the pilot spaniard has put his McLaren MP4-31 in the first
position after scoring a time of 1:31.2 to fit tire superblando. Without
however, much of the work of McLaren has been oriented to the use
gum media, with which they have completed several stint just before the break
for lunch. By the afternoon and with the rain present, Alonso has completed
28 turns with the tire on extreme wet and has closed the day with multiple batches
shorter already with the tire intermediate.
