Test: Test Toyota GT86. Introduction, prices and versions (I)

I Recognize that I have a special fondness for the Toyota GT86, a car that, unfortunately or fortunately, they do not see every day. It is logical that this japanese is not a super sales in Spain. In the first place, by the simple fact of being coupe and 2+2 seating, which is really a double wide, or a 2+1 something set. In the second place, because it costs more than € 30,000 and in the third place because it is a car that was never understood except for those who seek adrenaline on the curves.

These reasons lead us to search public between an environment niche; for car enthusiasts maximum torque of rear wheel drive, weight content and addicted to the curves… but when the Subaru BRZ and the Toyota GT86 found its niche between a Mazda MX-5 and a Nissan 370Z, the ‘Z’ threw the house through the window and lowered their prices, moving away from just 600 euros of the Toyota (32.900 euro). However, if you’ve driven the two, you also find a battery of differences that are not the object of study between the lines of this article. Today we discovered what has prepared GT86 to us this year.

The rims are 17 inches and this is the only design available

there is Only one finish available, once more, for good or for evil. It’s called ‘Sport’ and with the manual gearbox of six speeds costs 32.300 eur. bet on If the automatic change, the price increases up to 35.800 euros, but it comes standard with upholstery mixed leather and Alcantara that costs 1,500 euros, to lessen the difference up to 2,000 euros in reality. Our test unit is a manual flush ‘Red Kyuzo’, although you can select the other six colors all of which are metallic (White Gorobe, Silver Katsushiro, dark Grey, Kikuchiyo, Black Shichiroyi, Blue Kanbe and Orange Heihachi).

we Understand that one is not left with the name of your color, but fortunately they all have a shade of well differentiated among themselves. The metallic paint has a surcharge from 525 euros, although the Red is a perfect outfit for the car.

Among the standard equipment, not check nothing is missing and due to its size, we summarize the most important:

Inside well resolved but somewhat spartan

  • Optical warning and an audible rev-limit customizable up to 7,200 rpm.
  • Climate control bizona
  • steering Wheel adjustable in height and depth (which is appreciated by the stretched position of the legs)
  • stability Control VSC/VSC Sport and traction TRC

As we said, for good or for bad, the finish is unique and the options are slim. just, the navigator Toyota TOUCH&GO (€800), the upholstery (with manual gearbox) or a protective ceramic paint Toyota ‘PROTECT’ (450 euros), are part of the main catalog. As in many brands, there are a number of original accessories to finish equipping the GT86 where we find, among others, some parking sensors that tell the truth should be a part of, as a minimum from the main catalog of options.

Behind reloaded with lines of escape of large size

Our test unit has a price of 34.600 euros to equip the seats with leather/Alcantara and the browser. Even though the brand is touting some special conditions and a funding of 20,000 euros to the nominal interest rate of 0%. In the next part we analyze its exterior and interior. Don’t miss out!
