The best example of an advanced BMW Virtual Cockpit

It’s called Denys Nevozhai and is a product designer Ukrainian, currently living in California. He has worked in large corporations and the word “impossible” is not in their dictionary. Is responsible for this image today, I bring to you, an example of what for him would be the BMW Virtual Cockpit, a similar instrumentation to that some manufacturers are riding on their new range of models.

Shows that the dashboard of a car has to evolve along with the technology and although BMW has one of the most advanced instrument panels, there is no doubt that it could be improved. Perhaps, in the whole range of products BMW, the more technological it would be the i8, even more than the of the new 5-Series.

through the pictures of this gallery, Denys shows a design that, without touching the user interface of the system of information and entertainment, is centered in the panels of instruments and items that are normal and mandatory, hidden behind the ruffles.

His work has taken as the basis of inspiration for the panels of instruments used by BMW in 1998 and 2007 to create the true Virtual Cockpit of S. century and whose design must meet a few essential conditions: and easy-to-read, well-visible under any environmental condition, that do not involve an element of distraction and attraction.

These terms are not just important to him, but also that they are for a large part of the industry. In this sense, I think that devices like these should be standard in cars, especially when behind the wheel are luminous witnesses, and functions that can only be seen when it rotates. That is to say, the indispensable and the rest of the functions that are displayed depend on the options that mount or not the vehicle.

The automotive industry is advancing in giant steps but not for all models. Until you get to the low ranges can spend nearly a decade due to the high cost of the technology introduced. The step of instrumentation in analog to a virtual board LCD gave the ability to customize it, by design and by the possibility to change different modes.

The digital instrumentation displays a lot of information to the driver

Today it has reached a new cĂșlmen, to be able to go to adding features just update your firmware. In addition, this update also allows you to be able to store errors and spot them more easily, and fix them with a simple update.

The objective of a system Virtual Cockpit is that the driver has all the information right in front of your eyes, avoiding distractions and what we usually see in the concept cars exhibited in the salons.

But today though the concepts tend to be more close to the series production, are still shown designs on the boxes of instruments that are impossible to read, either because of the type of font used or the type of backlight.

In some cases, the current range of models from many manufacturers that offer a display of instruments virtual, these “failures” of a concept are maintained and really are easy to solve by paying attention to an increase of the screen resolution, the font type, improving the design of the icons, or, what is worse, they do not properly exploit the space that provides us with positioning important features more removed from the field of vision.

Today, Audi offers a box of instruments in the Virtual Cockpit, in large part, of their models, like the Peugeot i-Cockpit found in 3008 and 5008.
