The Civil Guard stake in the natural gas and adds to its fleet a Seat Leon TGI

The Guardia Civil continues renewing its fleet and adding new vehicles that will be at the disposal of the body of security. After the almost fifty units of the Jeep Cherokee and the Fiat Scudo, on this occasion it is a single Seat León TGI, which allows the use of CNG (compressed natural gas) as fuel.

This Seat Leon TGI has been delivered to the Guardia Civil Seat and Natural Gas, through an act in which they have been present senior managers of both companies together to Arsenio Fernandez de Mesa (director general of the Civil Guard) and Lieutenant Colonel Vázquez Jaraba.

they may Soon get new units or models of CNG to the Guardia Civil, since recently, the military signed an agreement of collaboration with Natural Gas, with the aim of improving the efficiency of the fleet and of the facilities of the General Directorate of the Civil Guard.

why is this Seat Leon TGI is interesting not only for the Civil Guard, but also for the driver to walk? Very simple, for its economy of use, superior to that of a diesel equivalent, and by their greater respect for the environment. Its engine is 1.4 TSI -with turbo and direct injection – yields 110 HP and is adapted to operate with conventional gasoline or CNG.

If you only used compressed natural gas, its consumption is about 3.6 kilograms of CNG per 100 kilometers, with a range of 420 kilometers and CO2 emissions of 96 g/km in Addition, through its petrol tank autonomy increases in other 920 additional kilometers, at an estimated autonomy joint up to 1.340 kilometres.

compared to a diesel equivalent, the CNG reduces emissions of CO2 by 25% and NOx emissions by up to 85%, making it much more “clean”. The fuel is also cheaper in the present, so that the cost per mile is between 30% and 50% lower than that of a diesel.

Not all are advantages, because on the other side in this version we have a boot with a smaller capacity: 275 litres, with the consequence that the gas tank is located under the bottom of the same trunk. In addition, in Spain the network of gas stations with CNG is still somewhat low, so that their availability remains another of its main drawbacks.

The Seat Leon TGI boasts greater efficiency and autonomy, although the remaining features of the model remain unchanged. Even its benefits: announces an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 10,9 seconds, with a maximum speed of 194 km/h. Yes, its recommended price is significantly higher: with bodywork of five doors part from the 21.490 euros, with the finish Reference more basic.
