The class LMP2 WEC points to monopoly of Oreca

The bidding process for the FIA for the development of a
chassis LMP2 ended up with the choice of four manufacturers. Oreca, OnRoak,
Riley-Multimatic and Dallara
were the four structures chosen for
to develop and supply the new generation of prototypes LMP2 teams
that compete in this class of the WEC. However, at the time of the truth the
reality is quite different, and unless last-minute surprises, Oreca 07-Gibson
has done with the monopoly
since none of the structures that will compete in the
Endurance world full-time for 2017 has opted for another
chassis.

For the moment, all the structures that have confirmed their
presence in the class LMP2 WEC have opted for the Oreca 07. The fruit of his
historical relationship, Rebellion Racing will liza two Oreca 07, while
Signatech will continue to trust the French manufacturer, the entire time that the agreement allows Signatech use his name to refer to the LMP2
of Oreca. For his part, TDS Racing will field an Oreca 07 with its colors and
a second unit under the banner of G-Drive Racing. It is also expected that
Manor and Baxi DC Racing to compete with the prototype Oreca, although it is confirmed in both
cases.

On the opposite side of the coin, OnRoak is very close to
not having any Ligier JS P217 in grill
. The low RGR Sport and the progress of
Extreme Speed Motorsport in the IMSA may leave the manufacturer with no presence in the
WEC for the first time since the beginning of 2014, despite the relative success that has
had the JS P217 between the teams from the European Le Mans Series. Without
news of Riley-Multimatic, the only option to see a chassis that Dallara is with
the return of the team KCMG
, of the hand of António Félix Da Costa. All in all, it is unlikely that this project will crystallize.
