The Electric GT Championship is a reality, to such an extent that the first season of the contest has taken shape. On the 12th of August will start the first championship of cars GT electric, and it will do so with a unique and great protagonist, the Tesla Model S P100D. The electric vehicle manufacturer’s california has received a great deal of preparation to become a beast of a circuit fearsome. 778 horsepower and 995 Nm of torque are the best example of this. In fact, this Model S P100D accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of 250 km/h.
despite the excellent performance the result of the the batteries of 100 km/h riding, perhaps the key to the Tesla Model S P100D that will be used in the Electric GT is its weight and its aerodynamics. However, credit 525 pounds less on the scale than the production model and presents a powertrain 25% lighter than the street car. It has also lightened its weight thanks to the use of a front suspension ‘push rod’. For its part, the aerodynamic kit that has been developed exclusively for this competition allows the downforce to be noticeable.
For its first season, the promoters of the Electric GT
have opted for a calendar compact that extends from August until the month
November. Although it is expected that in future seasons the number of
evidence to grow, by the time the first edition of the Electric GT Championship
will be played in seven rounds. The championship will start on 12 August in
Silverstone and will end on the 25th of November at Paul Ricard. The five tests
remaining are in Assen, Nurburgring, Portimao, Misano, and in the Circuit of
Barcelona-Catalonia, a scenario that has become a base of operations in
the development of the Tesla Model S P100D.
the format of The Electric GT Championship during every weekend of competition follows a similar layout to the Formula E concentrating all of your activity in a day. The 20 drivers that make up the grill played 20 minutes of free practice, half an hour of sorting and two races of 60 km, a day and another on changing conditions at sunset. The contest will remain free of charge over the internet for the platforms common, although in this aspect it is expected that the promoter of the Electric GT more details once it’s closer to the date of the debut of this new championship.
