The new Porsche 718 Cayman is on sale now, with prices ranging from 58.148 euros: already supported orders of the model, although the first units will not be delivered to their owners until September. Now, the coupe mid-engine production begins, and it does as usual in the Volkswagen plant at Osnabrück, which already manufactured its previous generation.
This will change in the next few weeks: from mid-August, in the full heat of summer, the production of the 718 Cayman will be moved to the main floor of Porsche in Zuffenhausen. In this way, the production of the new Cayman will take place in its entirety at Zuffenhausen, so since then there will be where it will be manufactured all the sporting two-door brand, including the 911.
In this way, Zuffenhausen will produce some 240 units a day of different models on their site (currently manufacture approximately 220). The Porsche 718 Boxster, ‘brother’ convertible of the 718 Cayman, is now at dealerships from the end of April, and the manufacturer expects a significant sales increase with this complete renovation of both models: in the past, 2015 is marketed 22.663 units of the previous Boxster and Cayman.
The new Porsche 718 Cayman represents a major shift, moving away from six cylinders to adopt engine boxer four-cylinder turbo-charged: in the case of the Cayman is a 2.0-liter with 300 HP, while the Cayman S the engine capacity is 2.5 liters, reaching the 350 HP. Without prejudice to any of its benefits or fun to your steering wheel, are also more efficient, with consumption means approved between 6,9 and 8,1 litres/100 km
