The new Renault Megane is increasingly close to reaching the market. The production of the fourth generation of this model has already begun in the factory Spanish Palencia, thus ensuring a promising future for these facilities that also manufactures the Renault Kadjar. In Spain, Renault will also produce the Capture and Twizy in Valladolid, in addition of engines. Seville is one of the factories of boxes of the most important changes in the group. Renault has an important commitment to Spain, where between 2014 and 2016 will invest 600 million euros.
Since they started manufacturing the Renault Mégane of the first generation in Palencia have been manufactured more than four million units, with the added the of this up and coming fourth generation. The factory of Palencia has been completely modernized to accommodate the Kadjar and Mégane, two models that share the modular platform CMF-C/D. This allows a significant cost saving in the design and production of vehicles that make it more competitive to the brand and their factories.
In the past 18 months, these facilities have experienced an important growth going on from 1,900 to 4,200 employees and reinstating the third shift at night, which disappeared at the end of 2011 as the demand was not enough.
To accommodate the production of these two models in Palencia have been modernized all the workshops of stamping, assembly and chassis assembly of the bodywork. We have perfected techniques such as laser welding and have been improved controls of quality in all areas by applying some standards of one’s own Daimler. The perceived quality is something that Renault is making great efforts in recent times.
