The next Opel Corsa will be a twin of the Peugeot 208 and Citroën C3

After the purchase of Opel by the PSA Group, the new generation of the Opel Corsa will share the DNA with the Citroën C3 and Peugeot 208.

Andl replacement generation was scheduled for the next year, but the PSA Group surprised everyone when he ended up buying Opel and Vauxhall. This ended up delaying the plans regarding the arrival of the new generation of the Opel Corsa, which we will not know until 2020.

The new Opel Corsa 2020 break definitely its relationship with General Motors, to give way to an architecture based on the products of the French group, as it will be based on the same platform as the Peugeot 208 and Citroën C3.

But, what will be the platform? It is still soon to know, although there are possibilities that the model of Opel is based on the platform PSA PF1, the same as that used today the Peugeot 208 and Citroën C3 and even the recently introduced Opel Crossland X, an architecture that has been around for ten years, but that has evolved technically on a consistent basis.

Although perhaps the alternative most consistent is that the PSA Group you bet for the new platform EMP1 modular for small cars, will be released next year with the new generation of the DS 3 and later adopt the next 208 and that in theory should also be used in the next generation of the Citroën C3. But in what is no doubt is in regards to the engines, since the next Opel Corsa will use the engines THP and HDI you already know, the same that are used in the rest of the models of PSA.

In terms of appearance, the designers will have autonomy to deliver to the Corsa and all the models of Opel’s own identity, as the French firm intended to maintain the autonomy and the imprint of the German mark.
