The production of the Volkswagen I. D. to begin in little more than 20 months

Volkswagen prepares its new family of vehicles, zero emissions and the first to arrive will be a compact based on the ID Concept, which will hit the market in 2019.

Lfter the scandals associated with the diesel engines souped-up for the emissions measured under the actual data, the German firm embarked on a process towards the full electrification of its range models.

Volkswagen is located in full development of a new family of vehicles purely electric, whose first model will arrive will start production in 2019. It is a car based on the prototype Volkswagen ID presented at the Paris motor show 2016, which will be the first new new architecture for electric models named MEB.

The car will be manufactured at the plant that Volkswagen owns in Saxony ,Germany and it is expected that the first units of series begin to be produced in 2019, with the first deliveries scheduled towards the end of that same year. This means that over the next year we should know the definitive version of this compact electric which we still don’t know which will be your name permanently.

With respect to prices, since the German group ensure that the car will be cheaper than a Tesla Model 3, with a price close to Golf more equipped. But this compact is not alone, because over the next few years will join the family of vehicles, zero emissions Volkswagen other models, which will build on the basis of the prototypes I. D. Buzz Concept and I. D. Crozz Concept presented in the last few months.

The Volkswagen Group has an ambitious plan about electric vehicles, because in the next five years they plan to launch 32 models based on the new modular platform MEB, with an estimated 100,000 vehicles produced on this new architecture in the year 2020.

These technologies will extend to the rest of the brands of the German group, as 20 of these models will be the brand Volkswagen, while the remaining 12 will be part of the family of models Audi, SEAT and Škoda. This new family of models of the German firm will have as main destinations in Europe and China.
