The 35th Rally of Argentina had a bitter taste to the organizers. Although the test was a success in terms of sports with the victory of Kris Meeke -the only Citroen in around 2015 – and by the massive presence of public, the absolute result was not the expected. The placement of the public and the lack of security measures was a rally in which there were two unfortunate incidents, the outrage of several fans by Hayden Paddon after a track output and a mishap of Andreas Mikkelsen in the section of ‘The Condor’, an event that was poorly managed.
In this aspect, the organizers of the Rally of Argentina have suffered a slap on the wrist by the FIA. In the mouth of Jarmo Mahonen, Director of Rallies of the FIA, the agency has made it clear that the situations and experiences in 2015 can’t be in the next edition, which will take place between 21 and 24 April: “What is certain is that he had not seen anything equal to what the last year in Argentina when they left to go out to Dani Sordo in the stretch after having occurred the accident because he had the presence of television. This will not happen ever. If there is an accident, it should stop because the TV does not have the authority any“.
In this line, you could say that the Rally of Argentina has a yellow card and is playing his presence in the party, see continue to form part of the calendar of the WRC. Although Poland is also on notice for similar reasons, the 36th edition of the test of brazil’s will look with a magnifying glass, as confirmed by Mahonen: “If we have the same problems in Argentina, the yellow card will be red and will be out of the calendar. On paper everything is very easy, but when you run a rally you must have enough stewards and police to be able to comply with the safety requirements”.
