Daniil Kvyat and Carlos Sainz have become to share the Bull
Rosso STR12 on the third day of testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya,
although the balance of both has been far from positive. However,
different reliability problems limited the time on track of both
pilots, who in the end closed the day with only 65 twists completed in common.
In the case of Carlos Sainz, a problem in the power unit forced the Spanish to
stop the STR12 in the way of the curve 4. For its part, Daniil Kvyat
accused of a failure in the powertrain.
At the end of the day, Carlos Sainz explained: “Are
investigating the whole area of the engine to see what has happened. I have not gone out
of track, I had to stop the car because all of a sudden the engine has stopped
function. By the time I do not know what has happened, are investigating. At the end
we knew that the first test was going to be hard, because the engine is new. Us
would have liked to do more, but we have to give them time. The unit
power is totally new and provides for a good step forward in power, so that
while that power comes for the first race we do not quejaremos”.
In this line, Sainz added: “Renault have said that it
feel, but they are things that tend to happen in the test. I hope that from
we now have a few workouts a little more positive. They have done a
huge effort to redesign the engine completely and move on
power to Mercedes and Ferrari, who also seem to have taken a step forward.
That effort has to pay in any way. But as I said, while
in Australia we have the necessary power, I don’t care demasiado”.
In terms of piloting, Carlos Sainz yes that was more
satisfied: “The feelings have been positive in the turns that I have
given by, the bad thing is that we have stopped when we started to take a
little the rhythm. Is a chore because now you have to do is make miles and unfortunately
we don’t have all that we would have liked. In the second test, with
compounds softer, we will see how we are in comparison with others.
I also say that until you do 10 or 15 laps to see how it degrades the
tire and how the car works, I will not be ready to throw to
tope“.
