The roots of Citroën in the WTCC from 2017

Citroën will not have official team in the WTCC starting from 2017, but that does not mean that you have to decrease the presence of the French brand in the championship. As explained Yves Matton in ‘Autosport’, the French team is working to to give continuity to the project of the C-Elysée and intends to maintain the number of vehicles present in 2016. It is worth remembering that in the next season there will be two C-Elysée official to ‘Pechito’ and Yvan Muller and three units are private operated by Sébastien Loeb Racing. Medhi Bennani and Grégoire Demoustier have already been confirmed by the team of French star.

A bet of 5 vehicles that Citroën Racing will not want to waste to 2017, although this temga to resort to a private training. The first idea of Yves Matton is that all of the C-Elysée could be operated by Sébastien Loeb Racing. A bet very ambitious that would lead to the two C-Elysée official to the box of the team’s nine-times champion of the WRC. Paradoxically, Sébastien Loeb was thrown out of the project of the WTCC at the level of the pilot and has made the leap to the Peugeot Sport to contest the Dakar 2016.

“We will see how it all works next year and if it works, we’ll be talking with Sebastien to see if there is the possibility of running the car factory in 2017. The cars are there and you have to find a solution to stay on the grill, by the interest of the whole world. Of the promoter, SLR and Citroën” said Yves Matton. The head of Citroën Racing does not rule out that if SLR does not assume a program with five Citroën C-Elysée, it can be resort to a second private computer that can support or replace SLR in 2017. Yes, Yves Matton had made it clear that the main option is to have with Sébastien Loeb Racing.
