The renewed Team HRC ready for Dakar 2016. The training officer of Honda was presented at the Spazio Campari, located on the outskirts of Milan. The team has a new lineup formed by Jnao Barreda, Michael Metge, Paolo Ceci, Paulo Gonçalves and Ricky Brabec. All of them will be at the controls of the up-to-date Honda CRF450 Rally, a bike which has worked with the manufacturer of the ‘wing golden’ throughout the season. It will be the fourth participation of Honda as official team in the Dakar rally since his return to competition after 23 years of absence.
Three years of racing in the Dakar without harvesting the Touareg are too many for the sports policy of the brand, always in the elite. This is why the team has put all the meat on the grill for reference. The Team HRC has accumulated more miles than other years, pilots with more experience and a better knowledge of the CRF450 Rally. To beat the all-powerful KTM will be a very hard challenge, but the pilots of the HRC have shown at times during the past editions that may be at the height of the pilots of the signing of the austrian.
The two spearheads of the project are Joan Barreda and Paulo Gonçalves. The Portuguese made a great end to the race in 2015 and finished in second place in the classification. At 36, the luso arrives in one of the best moments of his career. For his part, Joan Barreda was leading the last Dakar and great reference to the stage of the Salar de Uyuni, took all their aspirations. A stage in which the pilot 32-year-old has stuck in the form of a fish bone. Has been shown to have qualities of leader, speed, and intelligence in the navigation.
The three riders remaining are beginners with the Team HRC and in theory
will have a more secondary role, making it his career but always near
of the leaders of the team for possible changes of the engine without
penalty, help in the marathon stage, or in the heads of rows. The
first is the French Michael Metge. It is a pilot with great
mechanical skills and navigation. The veteran Paolo Ceci also
it will bring a good dose of experience. Finally, Ricky Brabec is the
a bet on the future. His 24 years made his debut in the Dakar after leaving
good symptoms in Abu Dhabi.
in Addition to the five riders
official, Team HRC supports Honda South America Rally Team and to
Honda Brazil, providing other four factory bikes for pilots
south america first level. Enrolled in Honda South America us
we find the argentine Javier Pizzolito and Kevin Benavides,
while in the training remaining will compete Jean Azevedo, and Adrien
Metge. Finally, it is worth noting that Honda will once again be the provider
official of the Dakar, as well as the bike official race.
