It is not exactly a secret that the approval of the
Volkswagen Polo R WRC ’17 was very near to take place through a
private project in which Red Bull and Qatar gave financial support to a team
in Sébastien Ogier and Nasser Al-Attiyah join forces. However,
money of Qatar did not arrive in time for that Volkswagen Motorsport could
to formalize the approval of their new World Rally Car and after waiting until the
last minute, Sebastien Ogier signed for M-Sport to drive one of the Ford
Fiesta RS WRC ’17 of the team of Malcolm Wilson.
With all that, what few knew until now is that Martin
Prokop and MP Racing had a pivotal role in this story that is not
complete, every time that the Czech rider had been able to convince
all parties to MP Racing had taken charge of the maintenance of the
Volkswagen Polo R WRC ’17. In fact, the structure of the Czech team, with
experience in the WRC, the Dakar, and in GT, had planned to take three units
the Polo R WRC to the see of MP Racing to Jihlava, the scene from which you
he would organize the team logistics.
All in all, the project for ‘nationality’ Czech Polo
R WRC ’17 finished not curdle and both Sébastien Ogier and Martin Prokop have
developed his projects around Ford and M-Sport. Although the four times
champion of the WRC extended the deadline for closing the project in up to two
sometimes, finally, all those involved failed to do their part and
proposal was in water of borage. It certainly would have been interesting to see
Sébastien Ogier, Nasser Al-Attiyah and a third pilot, possibly Andreas Mikkelsen,
compete with a Polo R WRC painted entirely orange.
