Another great news shown during the first day of presentations in the Geneva is the Volvo XC60. We had time waiting for him and it seems that Volvo also had many looking forward to this date to arrive, heralding its XC60 in the form of a teaser repeatedly. Today, finally, desnudamos and discovered the new SUV in the middle of the Swedish firm.
Volvo XC60 first generation has been a success, having marketed more than one million units. This generation is newly presented, a priori, it is not easy, but seeing the design, the technological burden and the a multitude of legacy systems in the Volvo XC90, everything seems to indicate that it will fall as well in the market as its predecessor.
This new Volvo XC60, as we have said, has many similarities with its bigger brother XC90. You just need to take a look at the body, where it is difficult to distinguish one model from another. They share many traits as the famous headlights, the silhouette of the bodywork, and the drivers later, just to mention a few items.
But what is really interesting about this new model is technology. The security system is much more spectacular is the Steer Assist. In case of detecting an impending crash at low speed, it will try to reduce the maximum speed to stop the vehicle but, if not possible, it could also turn the steering wheel autonomously performing a maneuver to dodge. No others are missing as the presence detector in dead angle or Pilot Assist, that is able to control both the speed and direction of up to 130 km/h; although let us not forget that it is assistance and not driving completely autonomous.
mechanically, the Volvo XC60 starts with a diesel D4 with 2-liter displacement and 190 HP. The other variant diesel available is a D5 of 235 HP. The range of gasoline is composed by a T5 and a T6, with 254 and 320 HP respectively. Meanwhile, the top of range will be the hybrid T8 Twin Engine, with their 407 CV is able to launch this SUV from standstill to the 100 km/h in 5,3 seconds.
