it Is a fact that the classics are still on the rise. And already not only talking about sporting classics, exclusive, unique pieces, and limited editions. A Mercedes-Benz 280 TE Estate of 1978 is auctioned for 12.800€ should, as a minimum, surprised. It is the price that we could pay for a new passenger car, like a Peugeot 308, or a utilitarian, well-equipped, as a SEAT Ibiza or vw Polo. This Mercedes 280 TE Estate is a family derived from a sedan back in the seventies would be in what we would now understand as the Mercedes Class E. And what is so special about this Mercedes-Benz to achieve that price?
The Mercedes-Benz 280 TE Estate is supported by a very good reputation, especially in regards to its reputation for high durability and robustness. This model was, in addition, one of the first family volume of Mercedes-Benz.
In those years, this model already ensured plenty of space and a good modularity, thanks to their seats-folding. It also had suspensions hidroneumáticas and a rear axle self-levelling, to compensate for the weight of the cargo and the passengers.
This unit has been auctioned in Monaco, on an individual lot which was part of a lot more, the collection of the Italian publication Quattroruote.
What’s funny is that this Mercedes-Benz 280 TE Estate is not too special for the price that reached. The auction has closed at 12.800€, although initially was expected to reach bids maximum between 6,000 and 8,000 euros.
This unit is equipped with six-cylinder engine, 2.746 cm3, 197 HP power and manual change of four relationships. According to its owners, its state is original, very careful, and almost as good as new. And although there is talk of mileage, and therefore do not certify any data, on the scoreboard we see 198.307 kilometers, which would definitely be a figure moderate to distances that can be traveled most of the Mercedes-Benz family made in those years.
