The scandal Volkswagen is shaking all the projects in the VAG Group. Are the hard times for the German giant and in the spotlight is any expenditure superfluous. However, the sports project in the WRC seems to not be. Despite the rumors that have questioned the participation in the World Rally, Volkswagen will continue with three Polo R WRC in the World Rally. That is the goal and premise of its Director, Jost Capito, and this has been confirmed. Three World Rally Car are essential and the three official riders have a contract for 2016.

In recent statements, Jost Capito wrote: “If I had to save money due to the new situation, I wish it wasn’t in the third car. For me, have the third car is vital to be able to win the championship and we have contracts with our three drivers. There is no indication that something can reduce our competitivad”. Very clear words that also left another reading, there will be Polo R WRC for private computers nor a fourth unit for a driver like Kris Meeke or for the young pearl of the VAG Group, the Finnish driver of Skoda Esapekka Lappi.

The words of Jost Capito, are not a dogma of faith, and Volkswagen may in the future decide to reduce the current budget of Volkswagen Motorsport, though it is likely one of the sports projects more profitable, by the impact and the successes. Putting on a balance of all of the sports projects in the VAG Group, it seems that today WRC for Volkswagen and the category LMP1 WEC, for Audi and Porsche have a specific gravity very important. Perhaps so partial, the project sacrificed may be the program in GT Porsche. Time will tell.
