Toro Rosso is in the midst of conversations to give a trade name to the power unit Renault for use in its cars starting in 2017, thus following the strategy that took Red Bull this season to give the name of Tag Heuer to the engines of the French manufacturer. This has been recognized Franz Tost, the Head of the Team of Faenza, that in addition has explained that it is a logical step once the training will use the power units of Renault after competing in 2016, with engines Ferrari, one of the weak points of the STR11 according to the own team riders.
“We have the possibility of finding a main sponsor to rename our engine in 2017, as did Red Bull last year,” explained Franz Tost in a statement picked up by the Italian medium ‘Gazetta dello Sport’. The head of the team Toro Rosso also explained that currently the team is in negotiations with a sponsor to be able to take this step, in a movement that is considered logical from the strategy followed by Red Bull: “We are in discussions with a sponsor“.
on The sidelines of these negotiations, Franz Tost has said that Toro Rosso is in compliance with the time limits provided for in the development and construction of the STR12, single-seater which will compete next season and that has now passed the crash tests. In principle, the STR12 will make its track debut during a ‘filming day’ at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya before the start of the pre-season test: “We are respecting the roadmap.
