Toyota and the PSA Group will introduce us to their new trio of vans: so are the Peugeot Traveller, Citroën Spacetourer and Toyota Proace

Toyota and the Group PSA (Citroën and Peugeot) announced in 2012 an agreement of collaboration for the development of commercial vehicles. This agreement was born the anonymous Toyota Proace a couple of years ago – based on the Peugeot Expert/Citroën Jumpy – and now announces a new generation of vans, completely new. Developed by the three companies, we present in society the new Peugeot Traveller, Citroën Spacetourer and Toyota Proace. Very soon on our roads and in industrial parks across Europe.

The productive collaboration between Toyota and the Group PSA will remain at least until the year 2020.

The press release doesn’t give many details, beyond indicate that will be produced in France by the Group PSA, although Toyota has raced with some of the costs of development. It is logical that PSA occur, as they have decades of experience in the manufacture of this type of vehicles. The three vans will be available in version MPV, a version of tourism with 7 or more seats that competes against the big mpvs. Also available in version Combi, Shuttle, for use in purely professional.

Are built on a new platform, compact and efficient. A platform of front engine cross-sectional and front-wheel drive, which frees up space for passengers and cargo. At the design level, each of the marks applied its canons of design to the front of the vans. They are a little different, but they share looks like, imposed by the platform and the architecture of the van. Maybe the version of Peugeot is the most beautiful, with a calender and lenses that remind us very much of the Peugeot 308.

The rear of all of them is virtually identical, and it stands out a the great gate of access under, ideal for loading heavy objects. A side door sliding is also present in all versions. We don’t know yet what engines will be used, nor do we have any information about the inside, or images. The trio of vans will be presented at the next Geneva motor show, which will take place in march of next year. Then we will have more details in this brief preview.
