Toyota Gazoo Racing completed on the Rally of Italy-Sardinia one of their rallies more successful. The team did not achieve victory as in Sweden, but Jari-Matti Latvala finished second, the young man Esapekka Lappi scored the fourth position after adding several scratch and Juho Hänninen was sixth with a solid pace. With this positive dynamic is facing the team of Tommi Mäkinen Rally of Poland, one of the rally’s fastest of the season. The three pilots of the team will look to get a good result in an appointment that adapts to the driving style of the ‘school Finnish’.
Jari-Matti Latvala has been fifth in the last three editions of the Rally of Poland, all disputed since the test returned to the WRC in 2014. Although this regularity can be a key to score good result, the finn is sure he wants to improve this position: “, we Had a good test to prepare for the Rally of Poland, because it also gave us some rain. I think that this can be very useful as there was also some rain on the last day of the Rally of Poland of the last season. It is something that often happens after you have very hot days”.
In this aspect, Latvala considered that there may be a similar situation in Poland. The finn is convinced to get a good result in spite of this and will seek his fourth podium of the season in the fast sections poles: “We have taken some steps forward with the shock absorbers and I was particularly impressed with the stability that we have reached in the car. A large part of the development of our Toyota Yaris WRC has taken place in the fast sections of Finland, so I think that the car must be very fast in the Rally of Poland. At least that is what I hope”.
Juho Hänninen is in full progression. The finn was sixth in the Rally of Italy-Sardinia, and already has three rallies in a row in the points. Beyond these results, the Finnish has enhanced his pace, and, above all, their feelings at the controls of the Toyota Yaris WRC are better: “I’m happy with our progress on the Rally of Italy-Sardinia, and our preparations for this rally have been built on this progress. actually, I think our car is better suited to the rallies with stretches fast in comparison with the slowest tests and that gives me a lot of confidence”.
Juho Hänninen has only played the Rally of Poland on one occasion. It was in 2014 and finished in sixth position. It is not a bad goal for Hänninen, because that would mean repeating the result in Italy, or what is the same, his best result as a driver of Toyota: “In a test of this kind only focus on riding. We have made some changes in the suspension and since then there has been a great development, so that the performance of the car is being really positive. The factor cleaning will not be as large as in Sardinia, but the day of Friday, will remain important”.
Esapekka Lappi was one of the major protagonists in Sardinia after adding several scratch and finish in the fourth position: “The test that we have done has helped me to change my mentality for the sections of the slow of Sardinia to the ways fast of Poland. Even though I had a good result in Sardinia, I don’t have any expectation in particular for this rally. Because it is a test very quickly, it takes a lot of confidence and I’m still not sure you have all the necessary. I Just want to have a clean run and reach the finish without problems learn as much as possible”.
