Toyota Supra has been a myth within the japanese brand. More than a decade ago that he left us, but has always been present in the minds of many fans. And the illusion was back in the year 2014, when he was presented the Toyota FT-1 Concept, and with it rumors of a new sports production. And just a few months ago confirmed its arrival after the trademark to register the name ‘Supra‘ in the intellectual property office european.
The new Toyota Supra 2018 will be a joint project with BMW, which will develop the successor to the Z4. This BMW Z5, which we have already spoken, will be presented first as a roadster and then I could get a coupe version. His arrival will be a few months before that of the Supra, with the will share a platform and mechanical, but not exterior appearance. In this sense they will be very different, and to make us to the idea comes this recreation of our fellow Engine.is.
Toyota FT-1 Concept
As you can see in the render top of this news, the Supra will have a body coupe. Its forms are reminiscent of some classics, with a hood and elongated back shorter. Although your design will be avant-garde, sporting some hard lines and futuristic, as well as some legacy components from other models. It is easy to recognize the influence of the prototype FT-1 on the rear spoiler, the passenger compartment moved backward or the double-bubble roof.
What is certain is that we’ve already seen some mules trundling around Europe. They are still very primitive and are being developed by BMW, so they do not shed much light on the matter. What is becoming clearer is its range of engines. Both models will have mechanical four-and six-cylinder from BMW. It is also expected a top-of-range hybrid with a six cylinder engine and two electric motors. Could be around 500 HP and that would be all-wheel drive.
unfortunately there is still a lot, so that we can have all the information on the Toyota Supra 2018. The production version final will come throughout 2018, although it is expected that the mark reveals another prototype that is closer to the final model. Could come soon, in the Hall of Los Angeles or in the Lounge of Tokyo. Later we know that the production of the Supra and the Z5 will take place in the plant of Magna Steyr in Graz (Austria).
