Dani Juncadella is about to face his fourth season in the DTM. After playing his first three campaigns in the category in the bosom of Mücke Motorsport, the Catalan driver takes a step forward in 2016. Juncadella will compete with the Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM Team HWA, the main formation of the brand from Stuttgart in the category. A show of confidence for a rider that not only had in 2015 a season regular and consistent, but it earned this promotion after leaving his stamp during the dispute of the ‘Stars and Cars’, an event that won before all of the pilots Mercedes.
In fact, his way into the Team HWA comes shot by Ulrich Frtiz, ultimately responsible for Mercedes-AMG in the DTM: “Dani Juncadella has a great talent. It has shown its potential not only in F3 but also in the DTM. We thought it was the ideal time to bring it to HWA. This change can give a boost to your career. As we saw last year, that in a few races Dani was the first Mercedes classified. A podium Dani will go very well. I have a lot of confidence in him and I hope to see you at the end of the season in the top 3 of the team”.
In fact, the presence of Dani Juncadella in the Team HWA cobra a dimension still more important, which together with the presence of Miguel Molina in the Audi can be a trigger for the return of the DTM to Spain, as it has dropped Ulrich Fritz: “I Think that 18 races are the ideal number for the DTM. Spain has many lovers of motor racing and in the DTM there are two Spanish riders. Without a doubt it makes sense to go back to having a career in Spain. It is a situation that the ITR and the three brands evaluated year after year. With luck, in the near future the DTM will return to España“.
