UPS launches delivery service with drones

UPS Drones

The world of the distribution of the products is much more complex of what appears. Currently we live in a time of change, as large cities could close its center to traffic of certain vehicles. Therefore we have that not many people will be able to access and among the affected would be the companies of delivery of merchandise.

As it is normal to companies that are dedicated to this type of activities are looking for alternatives to the packages and products can be distributed. UPS is one of the largest companies in the world of parcel and messaging, and to try to reduce their costs in terms of transportation of certain products has initiated the testing of transport with drones.

Some of the companies that are already doing this type of testing include Amazon, Domino’s Pizza and Mercedes-Benz. The results that they are getting now are still discrete but promise to improve it towards a future. In the case of UPS, as you can see in the attached video, a vehicle of the signature would be located near the place of the delivery and its upper part would be a drone with the package in question.

The weight that it can withstand such a drone is about 11 and a half kilos and the volume of the package can be up to about 50 centimeters. At all times the drone will be handled by an operator (by legal requirement) and it will control at all times that the apparatus traverses the distance and the path that you mark. To control that everything that happens is well, the drone communicates with the truck through the 4G technology, but also makes radio frequency as a measure of safety in case of loss of connection.

When performing the first test the drone of UPS suffered a little mishap. It crashed into the roof of the truck in which he was staying. However from the company have already indicated that the technology is completely safe and that will continue to work to get the products that people demand more beyond the limits that now have taxes.
