Stoffel Vandoorne completed his first kilometres with
the McLaren MCL32, is not exempt of problems as happened to Fernando Alonso in
the first day of tests at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The pilot
the belgian, who has been unable to complete 40 laps throughout the day despite
a loss of power of the power unit Honda has tried to be
positive with the little work that has been done the team of Woking in
relation to its rivals. In this line, Vandoorne has been recognized to feel very
comfortable with car from the first laps.
“It has been positive to be back behind the wheel almost four
a few months later. The first impression has been good” claimed Stoffel Vandoorne in the usual press conference after the day of the tests. “
I immediately felt confident with the car and really comfortable. I think that is a
positive signal. At the end, when debutas with a new car and more when there is
new rules, to feel confident is a good start. It is very soon. The first
feeling with the car was positive in terms of thrust, although it is soon
to say that because , we had two difficult days with little mileage“.
In relation to the mechanical problems of McLaren MCL32,
Vandoorne explained: “, we Had a power loss in the motor
morning after two laps. We are investigating what has been the exact problem.
It is a pity that we could not do more laps, because we expected to have more
work. At the end, hhas been two difficult days for the team. Tonight
we will have to analyse what went wrong and come back tomorrow with a car reliable. Morning
and past will be important days to us, so we will try to get the
most of the car in each lap, collecting the maximum of information
possible in each turn”.

The complications of McLaren, that have already been repeated in
off-seasons past, there have been recurring theme in the intervention of
Vandoorne: “Each turn is a valuable experience, we wish we had
been able to do more. Believe that everyone in the team is as focused, only
we are in the second day of the test. It is true that it is not the beginning that could be
wait because we had hoped to do more laps yesterday and today. Even so, we are a
professional team and we will work hard to solve the problems that we have
“at The end, we still have six days of testing
which is not much, but it gives you margin to be able to work. We need to remove the
maximum of each lap on the track and by the time the team is working hard
to solve the problems and make sure that we have better days in the
upcoming conference. it Is true that we need to have a normal day, decent and with
many laps to fully understand what we have between hands and the level
of the car” has concluded Stoffel Vandoorne.
