In this case, when the driving system self-detects a problem through a system of lights and alerts warn the driver to decide what to do.
The touch surface also enables or disables the stand alone mode. For example, if someone wants to take control of the driving would only have to put one hand on the panel for a second or two and could be enabled or disabled by the system quickly and easily.
